Wangari Maathai (1940-2011) - Kenyan Environmental Activist
Founder of the Green Belt Movement (a non governmental organization empowering women through planting trees in Kenya). She was the first African woman to receive a Nobel Peace Prize in 2004 for her "contribution to sustainable development, democracy & peace".
